Advanced Practice Provider – Bone Marrow Transplant

Rush University Medical Center presents an exciting opportunity for anAcute Care*Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for Bone Marrow Transplant.*

Position Highlights:

The Advanced Practice Provider functions autonomously in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals.

This position will be a mix of inpatient and outpatient.

Hours: 4 10 hour day shifts per week. Rotating Weekends and Holidays. No Call.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform patient history and physical examinations.

  • Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic health problems.

  • Prescribe medication, including controlled substances as delegated in collaborative practice agreement.

  • Utilize research and evidence-based practice to guide decision making to ensure the highest quality patient care.

  • Demonstrate advanced critical thinking in the care and management of patients.

  • Provide education and support to nursing staff, students, house staff, and other members of the healthcare team.

  • Consult other health care team members in collaboration with physician to meet patient needs, while ensuring continuity of care.

  • Provide education to patients, families, and community groups.

  • Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills that establish and maintain professional relationships with coworkers and other members of the healthcare team.

  • Work to establish a relationship with the patient characterized by mutual respect, empathy, and collaboration.

  • Serve as a consultant and mentor to healthcare team members in solving patient or care delivery system problems

Position Qualifications Include:

Nurse Practitioner

  • Current State of Illinois RN and APN licensure required.

  • Minimum of six months of clinical practice as an RN required.

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing required.

  • Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner educational program.

  • Nurse Practitioner Certification from a National certifying body required.

  • Nurse Practitioner Certification from a National certifying body as either an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP), Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG-ACNP)

  • CPR certification required.

Physician Assistant

  • Current State of Illinois Physician Assistant licensure required.

  • Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Studies training program required.

  • Current certification from National Certification Commission for Physician Assistants (NCCPA) required.

  • CPR certification required.
