N.P. Nurse Practitioner (Full time)Primary function: Assess and monitor physical and emotional aspects ofchemically dependent clients. Prescribe medication, lab testing to assist inwithdrawal process.Supervision: Supervised by the Medical Director.Essential Functions:a) Assess and monitor physical and emotional aspects of chemicallydependent clients.b) Performs complete history and physical on clients within 24 hours ofadmission, except weekends and holidays.c) Prescribe medications following established protocols,individualizing client care as appropriate.d) Review all diagnostic lab results.e) Diagnose and provide medical management of clients for acute care sick call appointments as needed.f) Perform medication re-evaluations.g) Coordinate treatment efforts with the Medical Director and MentalHealth Providers to facilitate and ensure optimal care of clients.h) Assist Medical Director, Director of Nursing, Liaison Nurses andnursing staff to meet the medical needs of the clients.i) Staff education on the spot training, mentoring of staff,assist with new staff orientation and ongoing education of staff.j) Liaison with cooperating community medical services.k) Conduct smoking cessation classes (once/week for men/women).l) Perform diabetic consultation.m) Presents Case Study Analysis staff education for challenging medicaland psychiatric cases to include timely assessment, appropriatemanagement, medication choices, analysis of laboratory results, etc.once a month to both shifts.n) Review Dominion Diagnostics lab results and insure that detox ordersmatch the results, are received in a timely manner and treatment reflectsthe findings.o) Conduct medication classes and discharge teaching session with eachclient as needed to ensure their understanding of stress and anxiety reductiontechniques, sleep hygiene, appropriate use of medications, exercise,nutrition, hydration, seeking appropriate assistance (when to call forhelp), and other wellness factors that promote healthy living at home orat sober living facility to provide a holistic review of discharge.p) Coordinate or present Recovery Education for clients.q) Attend committee meetings as assigned.r) Give input into budget.s) Cover call as needed.t) Adheres to confidentiality laws including 42CFR Part 2, HIPAA andHITECH as well as all Harmony policies and procedures including Code of Ethicsu) Other duties as required and assigned.Minimum Requirements:a) Current Colorado RN license and prescriptive authority. Certified fromnational AANP-C or ANNC (Adult or Family)b) Additional training/DEA waiver to prescribe buprenorphinec) Must be in compliance with all licensing regulations and laws.d) Current CPR certification.e) Current First Aid certification.f) Five years of experience as a N.P.g) Experience in treatment of chemical dependency, desirable.h) Physical health to perform all duties.i) Must have valid Colorado driver s license and acceptable motorvehicle record if driving Harmony vehicle or driving for Harmony business.j) If recovering from chemical dependency, prefer a minimum of threeyears continuous sobriety.k) Fluency in spoken and written English.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:a) Ability to function within the scope of practice of individual licensure.b) Leadership abilities.c) Ability to relate with detachment and empathy to chemically dependentclients and families.
