SUMMARY: The Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant functions in collaborative practice with physician(s) in the hospital setting. The NP/PA is responsible for the assessment, participation in the development of the plan of care, diagnosis and intervention of the assigned hospitalized patient(s) according to approved protocols. The NP/PA prescribes a variety of modalities to meet patient needs, up to and including continued hospital admission or discharge and prescriptive authority. Collaborates with the assigned team members to support and adjust plan of care and length of stay for patient care needs. QUALIFICATIONS - Nurse Practitioner - Graduate of an approved accredited school of nursing; Masters of Science in Nursing required. Minimum two years pediatric nursing experience (or 2 years experience as FNP) in primary or acute care setting preferred. Current licensure to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas. Recognition from the State Board of Nurse Examiners as an Advanced PracticeRegisterd Nurse. Certification as a Pediatric or Family Nurse Practitioner. Current certification in Basic Life Support. Current certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support required. QUALIFICATIONS - Physician Assistant - Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program with a masters preferred. Current Licensure by the Board of Medical Examiners to practice as a Physician Assistant. At least two (2 years) experience in pediatrics with ICU or emergency PA experience preferred. Board certification as a Physician Assistant-PA-C required. Current Licensure by the Texas Medical Board to practice as a Physician Assistant. Certification as a Physician Assistant-PA-C required. Current certification in Basic Life Support and current certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support required.
