Job Summary:

As part of the management team, the supervisor is responsible for planning and organizing, staffing and influencing, controlling and evaluating nursing service functions to provide optimum nursing care for each individual resident served within our facility. It is also her responsibility to be knowledgeable of all the established state and federal regulations in addition to house policies ensuring accurate interpretation and compliance. During the course of duty she will be called upon to perform various technical nursing skills as well.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for reading and understanding the contents of Mission and Philosophy Statements Recognize values identified within the Mission and Philosophy Statement as critical and central to the purpose of St. Patrick’s Manor Integrate values of Carmelite Philosophy of Care in all job assignments Respond to all staff, family members and residents in a courteous, patient and caring manner Respect the dignity of each person Communicate in a positive and helpful manner Follow established performance standards and perform duties according to policies and procedures Accurately interpret and assure compliance with established policies, procedures and philosophy of care Maintain optimum nursing care through effective and accurate communication with all members of the health care team on a twenty-four hour basis Maintain adequate staffing levels by recruiting replacement staff Hold staff meetings as needed Serve on committee meetings as requested Be sensitive to the needs of staff members, residents and families and provide support and reassurance as needed Direct and implement facility educational programs Direct, evaluate and supervise all resident care and initiate corrective action as necessary Make daily resident rounds and report to the Director of Nursing Service Review reports of timely completion of residents’ MDS assessments and care plans with follow up action as necessary Review residents admitted and compare physician orders with each of resident’s plan of care to assure appropriate implementation of the physician’s plan of care Education/Experience:

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Previous experience as a staff nurse or charge nurse in which administrative, supervisory and leadership abilities have been demonstrated.
