Responsibilities Req ID: 31392 The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is responsible for assisting the professional caregiver in the delivery of quality patient care, maintaining systems for the exchange of information/communication, and supporting efficient unit operations through securing equipment and supplies, as delegated by the professional nurse Performs direct patient care under the direction of an RN in a safe and timely manner Communicates with the RN and other health team members to provide safe patient care Performs coordinating functions accurately and efficiently Performs accurate and timely processing of physician orders Participates in quality improvement activities to evaluate and improve patient care Advocates for the patient and family to support patient/family rights and needs Demonstrates a customer service approach in care and interactions with others Education High School graduate or GED Completion of Health Unit Coordinator Program preferred Medical background preferred Qualification/Skills Experience One year of nursing assistant experience preferred Previous HUC experience or have completed vocational or internal Unity training program, or equivalent and related experience Proficient in keyboarding and Windows based applications Previous acute or long-term care facility experience preferred Skills Basic knowledge of medical terminology and hospital procedures The ability to establish effective relationships with patients, families, and health care team members Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks in a fast paced environment Demonstrated self directedness Demonstrated experience in providing excellence in customer service Computer skills Strong English communication skills in reading, writing, verbal comprehension and clear verbal expression Licensure/Certifications Successful completion of nursing assistant vocational course, or completion of one clinical rotation in an RN/LPN nurs
