This position is located in the Standard Material Branch (Code 245.2), Material Support Logistics Management Division of the Engineering and Planning Department at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine.

THIS IS A TEMPORARY APPOINTMENT NOT TO EXCEED 1 YEAR, MAY BE MADE PERMANENT WITHOUT FURTHER COMPETITION.

Duties

Responsible for the procurement of all materials (controlled and non-controlled materials) that is requisitioned by the various engineering, inspection and production departments in support of advanced planning services, waterfront support and execution for assigned systems.

Serves as the system expert for material procurement for PNS and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Detachment San Diego (PNSDETSD) availabilities for marine, mechanical and weapons systems.

The volume and complexity of the work assigned requires the incumbent to have a strong technical background and working knowledge of submarine systems and the programs to support material control including but not limited to SUBSAFE, Level 1, Scope of Certificate (SOC), Fly by Wire (FBW) and Controlled Industrial Material (CIM).

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Engineering Technician (Mechanical), GS-0802-09,Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

Experience utilizing the theories, concepts, principles and practices of mechanical engineering sufficient to provide waterfront support for production, quality assurance, and planning processes of ship maintenance;

Experience assisting others with technical guidance associated with the material procurement for marine, mechanical, and weapon systems;

Experience with submarine overhauls and repairs processes as they relate to assigned systems; and

Experience communicating both orally and in writing in order to inform, advise, guide, or persuade a variety of audiences.

To qualify for the position of Engineering Technician (Mechanical), GS-0802-11,Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
