JOB REQUIREMENTS: Plan and direct disaster response or crisis management activities, provide disaster preparedness training, and prepare emergency plans and procedures for natural (e.g., hurricanes, floods, earthquakes), wartime, or technological (e.g., nuclear power plant emergencies or hazardous materials spills) disasters or hostage situations. Under the guidance of the Emergency Department Supervisor or Patient Access Manager, this entry level position is responsible for patient registration, answering in-coming emergency phones, paging services to respond to the ED, co-payment collection, charge document processing, maintenance of department/patient records, electronic logs, and other clerical duties. The incumbent must have the ability to perform multiple tasks while prioritizing their urgency. Skilled communication and interviewing techniques are required, as well as excellent public relations skills including the ability to speak calmly and clearly during an emergency. The Associate performs in a training capacity and is differentiated from the Objective in the autonomy of the work performed. Work Schedule: 70% FTE, 28 hours per week. Week 1 of Pay Period - Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, 1:00PM - 9:30PM. Week 2 of Pay Period - Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday - 1:00PM - 9:30PM. Preferred Associate or Bachelor's degree Work Experience Minimum Customer service experience. Preferred At least 6 months of experience in an emergency room or critical care environment as: Receptionist, Nursing Assistant, Nurse, Paramedic, EMT, Fire Fighter, Police Officer, 911 Dispatcher, or experience in military service. Licenses/Certifications Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Ability to problem-solve. Ability to work in a busy and demanding environment. Experience in providing a high level of customer service. Must be detail oriented and accurate. Displays a professional appearance. Demonstrates service excellence in previous positions. Good written and oral communication skills. Displays an aptitude and willingness to learn new responsibilities. The ability to operate office machines/computers. Efficient and accurate typing skills. Working knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations.
