  • The PI Specialist is a process expert. The PI Specialist has expertise in process improvement, team facilitation, coaching and change management. The PI Specialist acts as an internal consultant for all levels of the hospital and serves as primary contact for assigned service lines/departments. Deploys the organization's quality improvement program, uses data decision making tools to support organizational decision and ensure regulatory compliance, secures evidence-based or best practices to identify opportunities for improvement and raise organizational performance, works collaboratively with operational and medical staff leaders to implement strategies for process and outcome improvement, is an expert facilitator and maintains objectivity and process focus at all times, is knowledgeable about accreditation and certification standards, identifies gaps and supports survey processes, and supports peer review processes as assigned. Position requires a valid Alabama RN License, BS preferred; or, Industrial Engineer degree or other Masters Degree combined with 3-5 relative clinical experience required. Minimum 3-5 years of hospital experience. 1-3 years of performance improvement (PI) preferred. 1-3 years of healthcare-related experience preferred. Demonstrated experience in the application of process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma, PDSA/PDCA, data collection , data analysis and team facilitation skills preferred. License / Certification required: Registered Nurses require a valid AL RN license. CPHQ or equivalent is required within one year of employment (if individual has 3 years of PI experience). If no previous PI experience, CPHQ or equivalent is required within three years of employment. Must become SMART Champion certified within one year of employment.
