Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking to hire a Medical Laboratory Scientist II PRN, whom will report to a Team Leader in the VUMC Diagnostic Core and Chemistry Laboratories, and will have overall diagnostic bench-work responsibilities with supporting patient testing; as well as, cross-train with disciplines of chemistry, hematology, coagulation, toxicology, body fluids, esoteric, serology, and urinalysis testing essential in supporting Vanderbilt’s Clinical Pathology Services. Vanderbilt’s diagnostic Core laboratory employees work with highly sophisticated automated specimen processing systems and LIS, in a academic hospital setting.
The Medical Laboratory Scientist 2 PRN will perform routine clinical pathology testing under occasional guidance in a team atmosphere with the authority, responsibility, and accountability for accurate performance of laboratory test methodologies utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of patients, as well as evaluation of the patient’s response to treatment. The Medical Laboratory Scientist 2 applies their clinical knowledge to achieve accurate clinical test results that lead to quality patient care outcomes. Bachelor'sDegree from accredited institution with successful completion of CAHEA orNAACLS accredited Medical Technology program or BS from accredited institutionwith major in biological, chemical, physical or clinical laboratory science andASCP technologist generalist or categorical certification or equivalentcertification; or equivalent education and experience per CLIA and TN MedicalLaboratory Board (1200-06-01-.22) for personnel performing high complexitytesting.
1 yearrelevant experience Diagnostic laboratory exposure with high volume automated specimenhandling systems, as part of the qualitative and quantitative analysis of humanspecimens
Attentionto detail, ability to work well under pressure with tight turnaround times, andability to adapt in a diverse, team-based culture
ActiveMLS Certification and MT Generalist Tennessee Licensure
Minimumof 1 year diagnostic laboratory experience with abnormal specimens
DiagnosticLaboratory Quality Control evaluation, instrument maintenance, and chemistryanalyzers troubleshooting
- PRN, 2 nd shift:primarily nights and weekends
