This position contributes to the mission and vision of CHI Health by having responsibility for patient meal service on assigned units, e.g., menu selection, tray assembly, tray delivery and pick up, special request and needs, in between meal food delivery. Communicates patients’ food issues, concerns, and needs to Food and Nutrition Services, and interacts with Nursing in regards to patients nutrition needs or requirements. Assist registered dietitian with monitoring of patients on NPO; clear liquid and full liquid diets and records food intakes for patients as assigned. React accurately and effectively to all changes to ensure timeliness of services and accuracy of physician ordered modified diets. Is familiar with dietary restrictions on special, modified diets to ensure optimal patient care and satisfaction. Responsible for patient satisfaction on assigned units.

  1. Visits patients to confirm daily menu selection, all patient food and diet related needs. Communicates diet-related needs to clinical team members.

  2. Accurately completes patient tray process: menu selections, tray assembly, tray delivery to patients

And pickup as assigned, special request and off-time meal deliveries.

  1. Must transport ReTherm cart (and/or room service transport cart) to and from the Food and Nutrition department, patient rooms and various hospital locations.

  2. Works cooperatively with team members, patients, and patient unit staff; coordinating customer services.

  3. Ensures Patient Satisfaction score for the department is met.

  4. Ensures accurate and timely processing of patient information from written and verbal communication. Communicates appropriately to the diet office staff.

  5. Promotes customer satisfaction by courteous, confidential service. Resolves all customer requests in a timely manner. Conducts Hospitality Rounds following each meal. Provides caring and responsive service to patients on a daily basis.

  6. Inventories, gathers, and delivers floor stock to units as designed by each facility.


Minimum of 1 year of direct patient care in a hospital setting and/or 1

year minimum in food service is preferred.

Knowledge equivalent to a high school education
