Provides nursing care and assists physicians in assigned clinic areas; meets the

qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned

nursing unit.

Reports to Pediatric Administration.


*1. Performs the duties and responsibilities of the appropriate Clinic Technician I job


*2. Performs procedures within their scope of service as outlined in the Pediatric

Ambulation Policy and Procedure Manual.

*3. Administers medications and vaccines including intradermal/skin testing under the

direction of a registered nurse.

*4. Performs venipunctures to collect lab specimens as required: draws central line

bloodwork according to policy.

*5. Starts, monitors and regulates IVs.

*6. Monitors patients during and following procedures; becomes aware of any complications; reacts to emergency situations; notifies appropriate persons.

*7. Obtains throat cultures.

*8. Reinforces patient education plan.

*9. Utilizes appropriate hospital/community referral agencies.

*10. Assists with admission of patients from clinic to hospital providing important

patient information to assigned area.

*11. Assists in the orientation of nursing personnel to clinics.

*12. Inserts nasogastric tubes and gives medications per nasogastric tubes where

  1. Responsible for actively participating in patient safety improvement and management program. An active participant:

a. Assumes responsibility for identifying processes or systems that could potentially lead to errors and adverse events.

b. Knows and follows organizational and departmental policies and procedures applicable to assigned duties.

c. Participates in required organizational and departmental patient safety education programs and other activities designed to improve departmental and organizational patient safety.

d. Promptly reports serious events and incidents in accordance with established hospital policy and procedure.

  1. Covers other General Pediatrics sites in the East as needed.

  2. Performs other duties as required or assigned by emergency or other operational

reasons for which the employee is qualified to perform.

Demonstrated strong organizational skills, good interpersonal skills, and a high regard

for confidentiality.

Demonstrated flexibility, tact, and the ability to perform both independently and as a

team member.


Requires practical nurse currently licensed in Pennsylvania or eligible for licensure.

Must be BLS certified.

Minimum of one year prior pediatric or clinic related experience required.

IV Certification and Central Line course preferred.

Epic experience preferred.


Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.
