This Clinical Research Assistant is responsible for providing support to the research studies conducted in the Pediatric Clinical and Translational Research Center (PCTRC).
The successful candidate will provide administrative support such as data entry, file maintenance and assisting with reports. The duties are integral to the administrative operation of the unit.
The successful candidate will assist the research nurses, coordinators and investigators in collecting and processing blood, urine, and other specimens according to the methods defined in multiple research protocols and established standards and practices. He or she is responsible for processing and organizing research samples for storage and shipping; labeling and recording specimens; operating lab equipment, such as a centrifuge; delivering specimens to other departments and other duties directed by the department Management. Ideal candidate must be a team player, organized, and learn new techniques quickly.
Bachelor’s degree preferred. At least one year of research experience or exposure to research methodology is preferred. This position is located at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC in Lawrenceville. TB test and PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check will be required as a condition of employment.

Bachelor’s degree preferred. Extensive experience may be substituted for degree. Two years’ experience working in a clinical setting is desired; previous experience with clinical research experience preferred
Child Protection Clearances
The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
