Position Information

The Director, Emergency Department at WakeMed North is responsible for the administrative management including the clinical, operating and financial outcomes for emergency services for emergency and eICU services for WakeMed North. The director is accountable for the integration of the WakeMed mission, vision and values into the performance of all areas of responsibility. Works in collaboration with customers, administration, medical staff, peers, and subordinates to fulfill job responsibilities, meet performance standards, and achieve departmental goals and objectives. In cooperation with the Senior Vice President, Emergency Department Medical Director and division leadership, this position shares responsibility for strategic planning, program development, standards compliance and integration of system wide service delivery. Identifies opportunities to improve patient safety and participates in projects and programs designed to reduce error and improve safety. Responsible for quarterly Emergency Department professional services contract (WEPPA) monitoring and KPI improvements. Serves as chair and or co-chair of key hospital-wide committees, including QAPI and EDQI.

Experience Requirements :

Five or more years of experience in clinical/healthcare management in a hospital system setting. Working knowledge of billing, coding and fiscal management including budget preparation and human resources management.

Education Required :

Bachelor's degree in nursing and Masters degree in nursing or health care administration required.

Licensure/Certification Requirements :

Maintaince of applicable clinical license in the state of North Carolina with no substantial findings required.

Hours of Work :

Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 5:00

Weekend Requirements :
