Responsibilities Req ID: 33827 Clean and decontaminate instrumentation in a safe, consistent and efficient manner Inspects and assembles instrumentation and trays. Safely performs sterilization procedures and monitoring of sterilization equipment Maintains all sterilization testing results logs Reports all negative results of testing to charge nurse and department manager Maintains a clean and safe work environment Delivers sterile/processed items to the appropriate department Maintains sterile back-up of surgical instruments and products Demonstrates competence in use of washer, sonic cleaner, autoclaves (OR/SPD)/ sterilizers and cart wash Completes instrument trays and peel packs correctly in a timely manner Completes annual reviews as required by Patient Care Department and specific patient care nursing unit Participates in unit/hospital/community and professional/educational activities Attends unit and department staff meetings Follows patient care/hospital policies and procedures Attends inservice programs appropriate to the Sterile Processing Technician role Contributes to cost containment through efficient use of time and resources Demonstrates accountability for/promotes own professional growth and development Demonstrate the knowledge and use of proper body mechanics Adheres to work agreement and established attendance standards Maintains CRCST or IAHCSMM/CRCST certification Independently accomplishing job duties Assisting co-workers as a team member to accomplish job duties Adhering to all regulation and departmental policies and procedures Communicating with co-workers and charge nurse/department manager to contribute to a harmonious work environment Education High school graduate or equivalent Completion of a sterile processing program or equivalent work experience.
