Job Description:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.

Experience:

Experience as an independently practicing APP perferred. Electrophysiology experience in addition to 1-2 years previous Cardiology experience preferred. Nurse Practitioners beginning practice after July 1, 2014, must practice for at least 2,080 hours within the context of a collaborative management setting in a hospital or integrated clinical setting where APRNs and physicians work together.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to perform as part of a team

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, with peers, students and other health care personnel

  • Ability to work dependently and independently

  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks and prioritizes appropriately

  • Ability to navigate an electronic medical record to obtain information and document care

Licensure/Registration/Certification:

  • Licensed as a Physician Assistant OR currently licensed as an APRN in the state of MN and current MN RN license

  • Current APP certification as Physicians Assistant OR current APRN Specialty Certification

  • For PA, must be approved by Minnesota Board of Medical Practice for prescription writing privileges

  • Current BLS and ACLS certification

  • Current DEA certification

POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The EP Cardiology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is responsible for providing both inpatient and outpatient services. In the inpatient setting, the EP APP works as a team with the attending electrophysiologist to perform and staff initial consults, perform subsequent follow up visits independently and to coordinate patient care. In the outpatient setting, the EP APP will see EP patients independently in the cardiology clinic. The EP APP will also perform inpatient and outpatient cardioversions.
