Senior Community Health Nurse

This is a highly responsible, full time professional position in the Office of Health Equity, within the Community Health Division. This position will have a concentration in Family Planning Services and Healthy Start data and is a contract manager. This individual must have excellent organizational, time management and customer service skills. The incumbent counsels patients in family planning and sterilization methods, supervises Healthy Start staff, and helps ensure family planning providers are meeting requirements for training and service provision. This individual supervises the contract manager for the Healthy Start team and ensures compliance with the contractual agreements. This individual will be responsible for representing the program in meetings with providers, partners and the community. This individual must be able to work independently, must be detail oriented, and should possess written communication skills necessary to complete and submit required reports.

Responsibilities include:

  • Counseling clients in family planning and sterilization methods.

  • Conducting chart audits to monitor quality assurance for the Family Planning Program.

  • Providing training to providers and community organizations on family planning methods and services, and to support any quality assurance needs.

  • Supervising DOH-Hillsborough staff assigned to Healthy Start, with duties including time sheet approvals, entry of Employee Activity Records, leave request approvals and annual performance appraisals.

  • Developing and monitoring annual budget for the Healthy Start Program.

  • Completing and submitting required reports by deadlines when requested.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must possess active Florida RN Licensure

  • 5 years with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing

  • 5 years of experience working in a healthcare setting

  • 2 years’ supervisory experience

Other Desirable Qualifications:

  • 2 years of budget management experience

  • 2 years of experience in contract management

  • 3 years of experience counseling patients in all methods of family planning and sterilization

  • 2 years of experience training colleagues in clinical methods

  • Florida Certified Contract Manager or the ability to become certified after hire

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Health Management System (HMS)

  • Knowledge of State Pharmacy System

  • Knowledge of family planning and sterilization methods and how to counsel patients in these

  • Ability to review, analyze and extract information from medical records for accuracy and completeness

  • Ability to prepare reports

  • Public speaking skills

  • Ability to conduct presentations and lead trainings

  • Computer skills, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities and training
