CORE COMPETENCIES

Reporting to the Home Care Agency Administrator, the RN Staff Nurse has primary responsibility and accountability in assisting in the provision of quality comprehensive nursing care to the clients and to relieve the Administrator of the assigned units as necessary.

Within the tour of duty accurately assesses clients’ physical and psychosocial status and environmental needs of assigned clients. Identifies needs for other services/disciplines for guests and intervenes appropriately to secure these services. Documents admissions and completes ongoing nursing assessments on assigned clients Demonstrates clinical competence to assess the physical, spiritual, psychological and emotional needs of each client Collaborates and communicates, with tact and sensitivity, with other team members and departments to coordinate an interdisciplinary approach to client care Responsible for managing all assigned personnel, supplies and equipment on the unit and for promoting team work. Ensures continuity and quality care on the assigned unit Develops measurable goals, admission and discharge plans with physicians, client, families and interdisciplinary team members. Documents and communicates plans appropriately From continual assessment, reviews and revises client care plan needs, concerns and goal changes. Communicates changes with HCA Administrator Organizes information and communicates with physicians and supervisor regarding relevant patient care issues Administers client treatments and procedures in accordance with physician orders and NLCS nursing policies and procedures Identifies necessary and appropriate nursing interventions pertinent to the plan of care. Documents nursing interventions and client response to care accurately, timely and completely Ensures standards of patient care are utilized and delegates responsibilities as defined by policy or necessary to ensure appropriate client care Follows up on nursing care to ensure clients satisfaction Handles crisis situations in a prompt, precise and professional manner Provides educational workshops to clients, staff and family members Administers medication and IV fluids skillfully, safely and as required Performs other duties as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Degree in Nursing required Registered Nursing license in State where working Minimum of 3-5 years experience in a hospital, long-term care facility or other related healthcare facility. Supervisory experience required Must have demonstrated experience in performance management and effective leadership Must possess strong written and oral communication skills; and ability to maintain confidential information Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
