Job Code: 08936-70707 Full-time No Weekends POSITION SUMMARY: Director Medical/Surgical & Oncology Develops and maintains systems to promote high levels of patient,employee and physician satisfaction; as well as external customersatisfaction, and improving patient outcomes as evidenced through HCAHPS.Assumes all facets of operations and accountability of medical/surgical andoncology department. Responsible for assuring adequate staffing andmaintaining appropriate productivity standards. Demonstrates advancedknowledge and skills in the care of patients in designated areas. Providespatient care utilizing the nursing process-assessment, care planning,implementation, and reassessment- for identified population per the ColoradoNurse Practice Act. Documents patient care; coordinates interdisciplinarycommunication and care; participates on hospital committees; facilitateunit meetings. Develops and implements unit specific competencies; annualperformance of staff; supervises RN s, CNA s, MST s, and UnitSecretaries. Provides coaching and counseling for employees as appropriate;supervises unit scheduling; monitors and addresses employee attendance.Develop strategic plans specific to medical/ surgical and oncology servicesincluding: program development, quality standards and improvements,patient safety and patient satisfaction initiatives. Promote oncology servicesoutreach. Provide liaison with American Cancer Society, Rocky MountainCancer Centers and Sally Job Breast Center. Demonstrate understanding of CoCand NAPBC guidelines and cancer accreditation process including qualitymetrics, tumor registrar and patient navigation. Ensure bariatric and cancercenters of excellence including state/regional or national accreditations.Demonstrate understanding of The Joint Commission Standards for accreditationas well as Centers for Medicad/Medicare compliance.
